Important Nutrients Men Should Include in a Daily Routine

As men age, many experiences a reduction in their prostate health with a great impact on their well-being and lifestyle. Also, there is a growing trend to use hormone therapy to fight off the signs of aging and restore vitality it may cause further side effects by increasing the by-product of Testosterone called DHT being responsible for prostate enlargement, weight gain, and hair loss, and many more. Fortunately, prostate conditions and side effects of hormone therapy can be prevented or restored by taking simple actions.

Scientists suggest that Trace Mineral Zinc is very important in maintaining prostate health. Prostate cells contain ten to fifteen times more Zinc than any other tissue in the human body. All of our cells require some amount of Zinc to operate and several studies show that the presence of Zinc in tissues helps to suppress tumor growth more specifically in the prostate by changing the biology of the cells and increasing their resistance against malignancy. Men with higher levels of Zinc from diet or supplements are much more protected against prostate conditions. Another benefit of Zinc is that it prevents Testosterone from being converted to its damaging by-products, so it helps to maintain healthy Testosterone levels.

Population studies found men with higher blood levels of vitamin E ( Tocopherols) especially Alpha Tocopherols and Gamma Tocopherols have lower risks of developing prostate cancer or any other cancers. Vitamin E provides antioxidant properties by neutralizing free radicals which cause DNA damage. When Selenium is added to Vitamin E it boosts the Vitamin's E function. Selenomethionine is a better form of selenium with higher absorption.

All prostate conditions such as BPH (Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy), Non-Bacterial Prostatitis, and Prostate Cancer are in one way or other related to high levels of chronic Inflammation. Research shows those nutrients and herbs with properties of broad inhibition of pre-inflammatory enzymes may help to prevent and reduce the progression of prostate-related diseases. Some of the herbs used in the studies are including Nettle Root, Boswellia Serrata, Pygeum,Rosemary, and Saw palmetto.

Many sophisticated laboratory and clinical researches have shown that standardizedplant pollen extract due to its powerful anti-inflammatory properties helps to reduce the size of the enlarged prostate regardless of the cause and provides significant relief from associated urinary symptoms. Research has also revealed that the pollen extracts are almost equally as effective as drugs without many of the unwanted side effects. Pollen extract in 125 mg dose three times daily within four to eight weeks reduced the urinary symptoms and over one year, it shrunk the actual size of the prostate. In addition, Pollen extract has exhibited benefits in reducing the conversion of Testosterone to DHT and inducing cell apoptosis. (DHT promotes the prostate cells' proliferation).

Almost 50% of men over 50 are affected by prostate conditions. Scientifically validated herbal and nutritional medicines can prevent or reduce the progression of prostate conditions in all stages and they can be as effective as some drugs without the unwanted side effects.
