SunButyrate^™ is a proprietary butyrate-rich triglyceride oil. Butyrate is one of the most abundant short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) in the large intestine, where it acts as a key energy source for the large intestinal cells (colonocytes). Once absorbed, colonocytes rapidly oxidize 95% of the butyrate into ketone bodies for ATP synthesis; thus butyrate is one of the important sources of energy for the body, providing anywhere from 5% to 15% of a person’s daily caloric needs. Studies suggest that the population of the butyrate producing flora reduces with low carbohydrate diet. Butyrate supplementation helps to maintain source of energy for individuals who must/choose to follow a low carb diet.

Recommended Dose: Adults take 1 teaspoon 1-2 times daily with meals or as recommended by your healthcare practitioner.
