Organic Traditions White Chia Seeds 454 g:

A gluten free superseed, chia seeds are a source of Calcium and Iron, a high source of Fiber, and provide 3 grams of vegetarian Omega-3 per 1 tablespoon 15 gram bserving. Chia seeds also contain protein, essential vitamins and minerals and a host of antioxidants, giving them an ORAC value of 1,200 per 1 heaping tablespoon, 15 gram  serving.

The ORAC value is a measurement of the antioxidant capacity of different foods. It is said that Aztec warriors would consume a mixture of Chia and water during hunting trips to ensure stamina and endurance. These mild, nutty seeds are a fast and simple way to enhance your daily diet with an extra boost of dense superfood nutrition.

Chia contains high amounts of antioxidants that act as a naturally occurring stability system for the delicate Omega 3s. Quercetin for example prevents lipid oxidation therefore making this seed a stable source of Omega 3.

Chia Pudding is best made the night before, and makes for a quick and easy breakfast or snack. This recipe is for the basic foundation of any Chia Pudding, so feel free to add any additional spices or flavours such as cinnamon, cacao powder, vanilla, fruit, nut butters and more!

You’ll Need: 3 C dairy free milk, ½ C to ¾ C Chia Seeds, and sweetner ( optional).

Prep Time: 5 Minutes, Soak Time: Minimum 3 hours, Yields: 3-4 C.

  1. Whisk the chia seeds and dairy free milk in a large mixing bowl*. Let sit for 5-10 minutes.
  2. Whisk again to prevent the seeds from clumping together or sticking to the bowl
  3. Pour the mixture into an airtight jar and chill in the fridge overnight or for a minimum of 3 hours**
  4. Portion into bowl(s) and top with granola, nuts or fruit***

* If sweetener is needed, incorporate into this step
