Fibrillar type II collagen is distributed primarily in articular cartilage, which is associated with joints. collagen in this formula is derived from chicken sternum cartilage that has been sterilized without substantially altering its chemical or molecular structure. This type of collagen preparation has been shown to help relieve joint pain and stiffness associated with osteoarthritis.

A randomized, double blind study of 52 patients with osteoarthritis showed that supplementation for 90 days with 10 mg of undenatured type II collagen daily reduced the Western Ontario McMaster Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) score, a measure of physical function, pain and stiffness of the knee. It also improved visual analog scale (VAS) pain scores and the Lequesne's functional index, which measures pain during everyday activities. Shop Douglas Laboratories Supplements at www.healthpalace.ca
